1. Who We Are

LUMIERE is operated by WattWorks Design. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our subtitle translation service at translate.wattworksdesign.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — Used for account creation and authentication. Stored securely in our database.
• Subscription status — Whether you have an active Pro subscription. Stored alongside your account.
• Stripe customer ID — A reference linking your account to your payment information managed by Stripe.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Subtitle content — Your subtitle files are processed in real-time through AI translation APIs and are never stored on our servers. Once the translation is returned to your browser, the content is discarded.
• Payment details — Credit card numbers, billing addresses, and other financial information are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store this data.
• Tracking cookies — We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party tracking scripts. The only cookies used are essential authentication tokens.
• Usage analytics — We do not track which files you translate, how many translations you perform, or what languages you work with.

4. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication — Your email is used to sign you into your account.
• Subscription management — Your subscription status determines access to Pro features (AI translation).
• Service communication — We may email you about critical account issues (e.g., payment failures). We will never send marketing emails.

5. Third-Party Services

LUMIERE relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Supabase — Authentication and database hosting (stores your email and subscription status).
• Stripe — Payment processing (handles all financial transactions and billing).
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI translation processing. Subtitle text is sent to their API for translation and is subject to their data usage policies.
• OpenAI — Alternative AI translation processing. Same as above.
• Cloudflare — Our backend worker runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure. No user data is stored by Cloudflare beyond standard request processing.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data:

• All connections use HTTPS encryption.
• Database access is restricted by Row Level Security — you can only access your own profile data.
• API keys and secrets are stored as encrypted environment variables, never in source code.
• Authentication tokens are managed by Supabase using industry-standard JWT practices.

7. Data Retention

Your account information (email and subscription status) is retained as long as your account exists. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data (visible in your Account page).
• Delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Cancel your subscription at any time through the Account page.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
